Public Access to South Carolina Family Court Records

South Carolina Family Court Search

In the past, attorneys and litigants alike had to call or physically go up to the Family Court to get information on a filing. In 2024, this changed as you now can search for a filed case through a portal specific to Family Court. You search by name or by case number.

Has someone filed a case against me?

One of the most common reasons I do consults is the other party has threatened to file or has claimed to have filed. This portal allows you to verify the truth of the matter as the info is uploaded into the system once pleadings have been filed.

Department of Social Service(s) and Adoption information

If you have a DSS or adoption case the portal is unreliable as in most instances these records are sealed from those other than the people who are involved. As such, you likely have to contact the DSS or the attorney’s involved directly to get infroamtion.
